The abundance of natural resources and raw materials were a hindrance to economic development in less developed countries because it led to a slower population growth.

The purpose of the world bank is to attempt to fight poverty by offering developmental assistance to middle and poor-income countries. By giving loans, and offering advice and training in both the private and public sectors, the World Bank aims to eliminate poverty by helping people help themselves and dedicate to providing financing, advice, and research to developing nations to aid their economic advancement.

Some drawbacks to projects funded by the world Bank are, between the government and investors, government renegotiations of contracts can even give away privatization efforts.

The purpose of the IMF(international monetary fund) is to promote global monetary and exchange stability, facilitate the expansion and balanced growth of international trade, and assist in the establishment of a multilateral system of payments for current transactions.
What might be some drawbacks to International Monetary Fund aid to nations in crisis in terms of establishing a democracy/democratic tradition?

The subordination of social needs to the concerns of financial markets has, in turn, made it more difficult for national governments to ensure that their people receive food, health care, and education. The Bank's and the Fund's erosion of basic human rights and their perversion of the democratic process have made the institutions a clear and present threat to the well being of hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
